Walking cane in walnut, rosewood, and white oak.
The handle ends in a hand-carved scroll, a form borrowed from the violin maker's bench. Tapered white oak shaft with rosewood collar. Finished in satin automotive lacquer for durability and UV resistance. Rubber foot.

Measurement:
Stand upright in your usual shoes, arms relaxed at your sides. Have someone measure from the crease of your wrist to the floor. That measurement is your cane length. When held, your elbow should carry a slight bend — about 15 degrees.
Standard length is 36". Specify your measurement at checkout; each cane is cut and finished to order.

Original work in my own hand; furniture and one-off pieces I design and build because they're worth making, not because someone ordered them. Solid white oak dining tables anchor the collection: heirloom pieces made to last generations. Some are finished and ready to ship; others are built to order in your size and wood, in my design. If the work speaks to you, that's the whole invitation.

A small, rotating selection of finished pieces, ready to ship, each one made and finished by hand, built to be used and kept. This is one-off work, not production: when a piece sells, it's gone, and new work appears as it comes off the bench. Everything here carries the same standard of craft, from an heirloom-grade walnut cane to a smaller piece for the home.

Have something specific in mind? A commission is for the piece that has to fit your space, your use, your life. Built through my process from the ground up. We start with a scaled design, so you see and approve exactly what you're getting before a board is cut, then it's made by hand and delivered finished. This is collaborative work: your requirements, my hands and judgment. I take on a limited number at a time, so the standard stays where it belongs.

Every commission starts on the drawing board. Using SketchUp, I model your piece to scale/proportions, joinery, wood, and finish, and set it in your actual space, so you see exactly what you're getting before a single board is cut. You approve the design, then it gets built. Available as the first step of a commission, or as a standalone service if you just need the drawings.
